Watching the AI ecosystem transform on a daily basis consumes most of my workdays. Thinking about what comes next fills the rest, though it’s now becoming ever clearer. Recent technological advances have shed light on some of AI’s economics: the incredible performance of FOSS models, their ever-smaller footprints, and computers like the frame.work desktop and NVIDIA Digits to run them. The macro economics of an AI future are starting to make sense.

A fortnight ago, I was invited to the Australian AI CoLab Initiative to deliver a fireside chat on The Synthrole Manifesto. The discussion was excellent, and it benefitted both the audience and me. By the time I got home and was browning my onions for dinner, I had my eureka moment, a topic I’m saving for a later note.

For this entry however, I draw once again upon The Synthrole Manifesto. In that document, I outline my lean framework for integrating artificial intelligence into a business. I propose Synthroles as a new form of role design where technology isn’t merely bolted on but is embedded at the core of the role, synthesised.

Since publishing that manifesto three months ago, my conviction has only grown. I now firmly believe that business leaders should start thinking in terms of Human/AI Team Building as a logical extension.
